Key Functions<\/strong> are roles and responsibilities relating to the organisation, coordination, supervision, and control of specific operational areas involved in the conduct of gambling activities. These functions are performed by designated responsible persons or their deputies, in accordance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework.<\/p>\n

Key Functions are carried out by individuals holding positions of responsibility and may include, among others:<\/p>\n

\n
• members of senior management;<\/li>\n
• compliance officers responsible for regulatory compliance and anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML\/CFT<\/strong>) obligations;<\/li>\n
• persons responsible for financial operations;<\/li>\n
• technology and information systems managers;<\/li>\n
• risk management officers;<\/li>\n
• internal audit and internal control personnel; and<\/li>\n
• individuals responsible for other critical operational areas relevant to the conduct of gambling activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  The framework governing the designation, suitability, appointment, and performance of Key Functions is established by Law 4002\/2011<\/strong>, as amended, the relevant HGC Regulations<\/strong>, and Ministerial Decision 56580 EX 2022<\/strong> (Government Gazette B’ 2166), which amended and codified Ministerial Decision 79305\/27.7.2020 on the Suitability of Persons<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

  Applications are submitted electronically through the HGC Information System<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
